In this age of atomic energy and outer space rockets the fate and future of peoples far distant from each other become closely interdependent. The question of freedom or enslavement of Vietnam in Asia, or of Hungary in Europe means more to the far-off United States than just the moral and diplomatic principles involved. It is a matter of foremost political and practical importance. This is why America and other free nations cannot remain indifferent to the fate of the Eastern-European peoples — in particular to the fate of the Byelorussian people, who were among the first victims of Moscow's despotism.
